Station Name: ACCRINGTON (Bury line platforms)

[Source: Paul Wright & Alan Young]

Looking towards the southwest at Accrington station in April 1953. The photographer is standing on the Clifton Junction line platform that served trains travelling to Manchester Victoria. The two lines curving away to the left are the Clifton Junction line that went southwards. Branching off and leading over to the right of the picture is the route to Preston. There was actually a triangular junction at Accrington but platforms were only provided on two sides of the triangle as shown in this view.
