After Appleton station had opened two pubs opened adjacent to it. On the western side of the line was The Railway which closed in the early years of the 20th century. On the east side was the Commercial which lasted into the 21st century. It is seen in this view looking south-east on 25 November 2012. The road follows the course of the railway.
