In June 1967 a North Tyneside 1937 vintage emu calls at the down platform. This view to the north-east is from the overbridge of the former Backworth Waggonway. The pent-roofed waiting accommodation on this platform would soon be demolished and replaced with a ‘bus’ shelter.
