1910 1: 2,500 OS map . To the south-east the Facit Branch has some interesting features on its approach to Bacup. On the up (north-east) side of the running lines are the 4-road engine shed and sidings, with a turntable to the east of the site, close to the tunnel mouth. A siding running off the map top left serves Rockcliffe Vale corn mill. Specific note is made of the presence of a rain gauge. ‘Bacup Engine Shed’ signal box is on the down side of the tracks. To accommodate the sidings the small stream ‘Trough Syke’ has been partially culverted.
