Ballinderry station looking south-east from the Antrim direction platform in 1979. Under NIR the Antrim direction was designated as the 'Down' and the Knockmore Junction direction as the 'Up'. When the passing loop was put back in 1973 both lines were signalled for bi-directional working.

An unusual scene at Ballinderry on Saturday 19 May 1984. There are three trains present in the view which was not something that would usually occur. To the left is the 11.05am Londonderry to Belfast Central service which had been worked from Antrim under the pilot working system due to engineering. Pilot working was in operation between Ballinderry and Antrim throughout the day. To the right in the foreground is the 11.40am Bangor to Crumlin service and ahead of it at the far end of the loop a broken down engineers' train that had been en route to Belfast York Road.
