The races at Wetherby provided many interesting excursions including some double-heading, owing to the severe gradients. In this view from 1961 an Easter race special, with 90127 leading, returns to Sheffield via Cross Gates and Leeds with a train of corridor stock. Built at North British Loco Works in 1943 to a wartime design for the Ministry of Supply by R A Riddles, 90127, it is a Class 8 2-8-0 that passed to BR and had a service life of over 21 years when it was withdrawn from Royston shed in October 1964 to be cut up in December 1965. It first carried the WD number 7030 and was then renumbered in January 1945 to 77030 before receiving its final number in September 1950.
