Station Name: BELFORD, for BAMBURGH

[Source: Alan Young]

The contributions to the lineside architecture in the late 20th and early 21st centuries are distinctly uninspired and are impudent neighbours to the dignified Victorian Newcastle & Berwick station at Belford, which appears on the right-hand edge of this photograph. The structure in the foreground is all that remains of the 1962 signal box which continues to function as a relay room. This photograph, looking north-west from the level crossing, was taken in May 2009.
