In June 1967 the electric trains were withdrawn from the Coast Circle route, and this general view, looking north-east from the down platform, shows the electric third rails still in place. The main station building and its additions can be seen on the up platform, with the waiting shed on the down platform. The BR(NE) running-in board and electric lighting were installed in the early 1960s. In the background the NER footbridge completes the view.
