Station Name: BENTON (2nd)

Benton’s up platform and station building, looking south-west from the coast end of the down platform. The 1871 Blyth & Tyne building and the NER wooden extension, containing the booking office, and the typical NER cast iron footbridge can be seen in this late 1960s view. The electric third rails, redundant from June 1967, have been removed.
