Interior of the Blaydon double roundhouse in August 1963 with only a brake tender in residence. These were used to give diesel locos extra braking power when working unfitted freights. They were coupled to the loco (one per loco) and were weighted bodies on old steam loco tender frames, connected to the loco's vacuum brake.
