Bow Road Station Gallery 3: February 1974 - June 2012

The south end Bow Road station and viaduct from an elevated position in Addington Road in February 1974. The short awnings in front of the stairs have now been removed and the down stairway has been blocked. There is, however, a door giving access to the up platform. Today 'A Plant Tool Hire' occupies the yard beside the viaduct.

The street-level building at Bow Road station seen from track level in 1981. The building was vacated by the Power Group in 1979 and at this time it is undergoing renovation before opening as a betting shop in January 1982. The left doorway has been converted into a window. The glazed roof of the stairway to the up platform is in the process of being replaced by a flat roof. It would appear that the left pediment above the new window is also being removed as seen in later pictures.

Bow Road station looking south in December 1982. The brick wall on the right is the remains of the stairs down to the subway and exchange booking office. Recent aerial views suggest the stairs are probably still there.

The street-level building at Bow Road station in June 2008. The building has had many different colours since being refurbished as a betting shop in 1980/81 including yellow ochre, pillar-box red, white and now grey. The pediment above the left window (formerly a doorway) has been removed so the building looks symmetrical for the first time. The view remains the same today.

Following the lifting of the up line c1986 the up platform has become more overgrown but other than that has changed little in the last 47 years. The top of the stairway remains in reasonable condition. There is still a door at the top of the stairs but it is doubtful if it has been used for a long time. (June 2012)
