Station Name: BROADLEY

Looking south along the trackbed of the Facit Branch immediately south of Broadley station in June 2016. Ian Holt (left) and Richard Greenwood (right) – who took most of the late 1950s and 1960s photographs used to illustrate this article – are standing close to the point where the sidings were entered which served the WW2 explosives factory. The sidings were located in the area to the left, now colonised by trees. The factory was situated on the floor of the Spodden Valley close
to Healey Dell Viaduct.
