Station Name: BURY BOLTON STREET

Looking north at Bury Bolton Street station in February 1983. To the left is the island platform which had two faces numbered platforms 3 and 4, platform 3 being the one just to the left of the photographer. To the right can be seen platforms 1 and 2. Platform 1, to the far right and devoid of track, was a bay. The station had been closed for three years when the picture was taken but it retained its facilities. This was because at that time a preservation group called the East Lancashire Railway was
actively engaged in discussions with British Rail to take over
the station and the line to Rawtenstall.
