Looking north-east towards Buttington station after it had closed in 1964. The photo shows the short lived arrangement that had been implemented in that year of there being two parallel bi-directional lines between this point and Welshpool. The line nearest to the camera was the bi-directional Shrewsbury line and the one furthest away the bi-directional Oswestry line. The remains of the Buttington Junction signal box can be seen to the left it had closed when the junction was removed.
