The south end of the tunnel c1984, during demolistion. Chesterfield Central station was at the other end of the tunnel. The photo shows the remains of the ventilation shaft three quarters along the tunnel. After the various foundations and retaining walls were completed for the Chesterfield Inner Relief road part of the ventilation shaft was strengthened with concrete and remains visible today.
