Station Name: CHRISTON BANK

[Source: Alan Young]

The former Christon Bank station, looking north from the level crossing in September 1978. Although nothing remains of the down platform (left of the rails) or its waiting shelter, the station house and goods shed are still in place. The Newcastle & Berwick Railway spent generously on its stations, providing buildings of charm and dignity not only for passengers but also for the goods facilities. The architectural unity of the two buildings is admirable, both of them displaying masonry and decorative features of excellent quality.
