Cirencester Town Gallery 6: May 1982 - 2019

The station here is in use as bus station in May 1982. Undergrowth has been cleared from lower part of car park, to the right of the station building, and the front canopy is still present.

The southern part of the car park, seen in May 1982. It corresponds to the area covered by the platform and the track work near it, and therefore is at a lower level than at the front car park. The view today is similar, but with the trees on the left pruned or removed and many more cars.

A view probably taken looking SE along the railway alignment in August 1988 from the side of Hammond Way furthest from the station. The open field in the foreground is now the site of the local Waitrose. The building is one of the first in the Phoenix Way business park, and the southern bypass is just behind the hedgerow to the right.

A view of the remaining station building in June 2014 from the south west. The station building is now surrounded by a car park. The part of the car park in this photo is at track level. The passageway from the station onto the platform is now blocked by a wooden door seen above the red Mini. The wall to the right was the back of the platform area and was under the pre-1920 platform awning. The handrails visible above the cars are round the replaced platform section

A view of the station forecourt in March 2015. It is now a car park and is surprisingly empty. To the right of the only car, the replica platform and location of buffer stops can be seen. The platform is in about the correct location; the railway tracks extended further towards where the photographer is standing. This part of the car park is at the original road level and hence higher than the rear portion.

A view from the south in April 2016. The left hand part of the building contains the main staircase. The door to the right blocks the end of the rear passage from the single storey building onto the platform. The wall to the right towards the photographer formed the back of the platform.

A view from the south west taken in April 2016 showing the remaining station buildings. The right hand part of the west wall has been rendered. This was probably done at the same time as the platform awning was removed. The hand rail is on the replaced section of platform.

Cirencester Town forecourt in 2019. The single storey extension was substantially rebuilt in 1956. It's
possible that the foundations and the west and south walls are
original, but everything else was new
