J15 0-6-0 65462 on loan to the Clare Railway Society for two weeks c mid 2000s.The GER class Y14 was designed by T.W. Worsdell for both freight and passenger duties - a veritable 'maid of all work'. Introduced in July 1883, they were so successful that they continued in production until 1913 with little design change. They were reclassified J15 by the LNER. Built in March 1912 and originally numbered 564 this loco was renumbered to 7564 then 5462 by the LNER, finally getting a 6 prefix under BR. It was finally withdrawn from Stratford shed on 30 September and purchased by the Great Northern Joint Railway Society who restored in and run it on the North Norfolk Railway. The remains of Clare Castle keep is seen in the background.
