Station Name: CONSETT

The last train into Consett was organised by the Derwent Rail Action Group running on 17th March 1984 from Newcastle. Peak diesel 46026 has arrived at the site of the former Consett Station. In front of the engine can be seen the bridge carrying Delves Lane over the former station replacing the level crossing that used to exist before the station moved from the Lanchester branch to this location, a distance of some 1½miles. The original station was in the area that at this time was part of the lower yard of the steelworks.
