The last train into Consett was organised by the Derwent Rail Action Group running on 17th March 1984 from Newcastle. 46026 carried a wreath and the locomotive number plate from 9F 92066. The 9F had been a stalwart of the motive power used on the Tyne Dock to Consett iron ore trains, its ten coupled driving wheels providing excellent traction of the steep gradients up to Consett from South Pelaw junction. 92066 was one of the 9fs adapted with air compressors on the running plate to power the air operated doors on the ore wagons and headed the last steam hauled train to Consett.
