The last train into Consett was organised by the Derwent Rail Action Group running on 17th March 1984 from Newcastle. The loco having run round its train stands awaiting departure in the yard of the former Consett station. From high on a signal post the layout can be seen to good effect in the snow of this bleak March day. Although a small number of sidings have been removed in the right fore ground most lines are still in situ. The station platforms once occupied the space to the left of the engine in the background. The last ever passenger train in Consett Station will depart into history shortly.
