Craven Arms engine shed in 1957. The left road was taken out of use in 1937 and the track removed. The coaling shed is seen on the right. 42305 (centre) was built at Derby for the LMS in January 1928. A Fowler-designed Class 4 passenger tank, this 2-6-4 had a working life of over 34 years when it was withdrawn from 87D, Swansea East Dock in June 1961 and scrapped by the end of that month. 9028 (right) was a Collett-designed Dukedog, (a Duke boiler and bulldog frames). It was built in November 1939 at the GWR's Swindon works. Having nearly 18 years in service, it was withdrawn from 84J, Coes Newydd shed, in September 1957 and cut up immediately at Swindon.
