Concrete test track at Darley Dale station in late 1973. Following closure of the line and lifting of the track, the trackbed at Darley Dale was used by BR's Derby research division for experiments into slab track. This was particularly done with the tunnels on the Hope Valley route in mind. Note that the track is of narrower gauge than standard.
