Station Name: DARLEY DALE
Still reopened but included for completeness

A contemporary sketch this time showing the new Darley station of 1873, with the 'Dale' added. It was certainly drawn before the early 1880s as it includes Darley North and South signalboxes. The later was closed c.1882. Darley North box was originally known as Darley Station. It was altered to Darley North c.1879, but reverted to Darley Station when the South box closed. It appears that the North box name entry is an alteration, perhaps indicating that the box was originally identified on the sketch as Darley (Dale) Station, but was altered following the c.1879 renaming.  The station platforms were extended northwards in 1900 at a cost of around £800.
