61738, a Gresley-designed K2 built at Doncaster is seen hauling a class H freight through Daybrook station in March 1955. It entered service at Ardsley shed in June 1914 numbered 1648 then was renumbered to 4648 upon passing to the LNER. Renumbered again in 1946 to 1738, it passed into BR service receiving the ‘6’ prefix. Withdrawal came on 3 July 1959 from 38A, Colwick shed, and it was broken up later that year. Note the smokebox handrail.
