Station Name: DOVER ADMIRALTY PIER

[Source: Nick Catford]

Admiralty Pier seen from the ‘Lord Warden’ Hotel in 1901. By now the LC&DR and the SER have amalgamated as the South Eastern & Chatham Railway and locomotives are seen on each of the lines. Work has started on the pier extension; the turret which was at the end of the pier can be seen to the right of the gantries. This a hand tinted postcard; the original photograph is below. Some artistic licence has been used with the addition of the two people strolling along on the left. There are some additional children to the right of the signal box and a couple of extra boats in the harbour.
