Station Name: DOVER TOWN

[Source: Nick Catford & Lorraine Sencicle]

Dover Town Yard and beyond it the site of Dover Town station c1992. Railfreight which ran to/from the UK by train ferry was marshalled here before the Channel Tunnel opened. There were daily services of freight trains ran between Dover Town and Willesden Brent (London), Bescot (Birmingham) and Basford Hall (Crewe). There is a ship tied up at the Western Docks in the background, and although it is not the train ferry, the 'new' linkspan for the train ferry can be seen a little further along to the right.
