A boat train is seen leaving at Dover Marine station in the 1950s. 34077 was one of Bullied's Light Pacifics built in July 1948 at Brighton works. This Battle of Britain Class was named 603 Squadron and was rebuilt at Eastleigh works in July 1960, when the air smoothed casing and chain driven valve gear was removed. Lasting well into the last year of Southern steam, it was withdrawn in March of 1967 and scrapped in August that year.
