Class 71 loco No.E5001 stands in Dover Western Docks on the last day of public service on 25 September 1994. This loco was used for two mini-tours (The ‘Kentish Wanderer’ A and B) that ran with the stock off the 'Continental Farewell' tour. It ran via Canterbury West, Ashford and Folkestone. The last of these locomotives were withdrawn in 1977. All remaining members of Class 71 were withdrawn in 1977 and E5001 is now the only surviving example. It has been preserved by the National Railway Museum.
