The façade of the main station building at Durham, looking north in August 1978. This entrance gives direct access to the up platform. The entrance was originally the booking hall but at this time there was a new (1966) booking hall in the flat-roofed building visible above the van, and the original building had become an extended parcels office. In the latest modifications, and with the demise of parcels traffic, this entrance now gives access to a new and improved booking hall.
