Standing with a passenger train at Durham up platform in May 1956 is No.60945, a V2 built in 1924 at Darlington works. This 2-6-2 entered service at Doncaster shed on 15 May 1924 and lasted until withdrawal from 50A, York North on 6 July1964; it was sent to Swindon for scrapping a month later. The other loco in this picture is 67254, a Worsdell-designed G5 tank. Built in 1895 for the NER and originally numbered 1840, it was renumbered by the LNER to 7254. This 0-4-4 lasted over 62 years, when it was withdrawn during December 1957 and scrapped. The G5 is awaiting departure from the bay with a stopping train for Bishop Auckland.
