The signalman emerges from his box as a train appears to depart for Melcombe Regis c1940. 221 was built by the LSWR to an Adams design in 1892 and entered service in September. This 0-4-4 class 02 passed to the Southern Railway and then to BR, where it received the Number 30221, lasting in service until August 1953 when it was withdrawn and scrapped later that year.
