The signalman looks out of his window as a train bound for Melcombe Regis is ready to depart in 1947. 233 was built by the LSWR at Nine Elms works in 1895 entering service in January. An Adams-designed 02, this 0-4-4T was renumbered on entering BR in 1948 to 30233 and lasted in service until February 1958, when it was withdrawn from Eastleigh shed and cut up at
Eastleigh works shortly afterwards
