Eridge Station looking south in November 2005. The Sandite multi purpose vehicle (MPV) uses a powerful water jet to clean the rails and lay Sandite onto the railhead to improve adhesion. The Uckfield line has had a lot of problems with slipping in the past. Sandite is a sand gel which improves the grip on rails.
