In 1963 a southbound Class K goods train is viewed from the footbridge at Fencehouses station. Passengers are waiting in the shed for a train to Durham. The loco seen here is a Raven-designed Q6 built for the NER by Armstrong Whitworth in May 1920. This 0-8-0 originally carried the number 2274 until renumbered by the LNER in 1946 to 3431. Withdrawn on 7 August 1967 from 51C, West Hartlepool shed the loco was sold for scrap to Hughes Bolckows the following month.
