Station Name: FENCEHOUSES

[Source: Alan Young]

Fencehouses station seen from the footbridge at the south end, beside the level crossing, on a wet day in April 1964. The range of sturdy buildings on the up (east) platform is shown clearly. The original low platform directly in front of the buildings has a fence in front to prevent passengers on the newer raised section at the trackside from stumbling where the two levels meet. The main building in the foreground has the distinctive bay window on the platform elevation provided by the architect G T Andrews on many of his stations. The goods shed is in the background.
