The SS ‘Folkestone’ is seen alongside the pier at Folkestone Harbour c1902 while another steamer leaves for Boulogne. ‘Folkestone’ was built for the South Eastern Railway in 1878 by Earles Shipbuilding & Engineering Co Ltd, Hull, The 398-ton cargo carrier one of their first screw vessels along with her sister ship the SS ‘Boulogne’. ‘Folkestone’ ran aground in fog and sank in February 1903..
