This 1953 aerial view shows the length of earlier sea wall which was widened and weighted in the following two years. Left of centre is the concrete mixer, used for producing the blocks and protective covering over the chalk weighting. Above centre, there is evidence of chalk removal, this area being used as the source of much of the weighting material.
