Station Name: FORDHAM

The view from Fordham level crossing towards Ely in October 1994. This was the site of Fordham North Junction, where the Mildenhall branch swung away to the right towards Isleham. It might be easy to assume the branch headed off through the gap between the bushes and the building on the right but the curve was nowhere near that sharp. Beneath the X 30 sign a change in the colour of the bushes can be seen and it was at that point where the branch veered away. The X 30 sign tells train drivers the automatic barriers will operate when a train is running wrong line and such trains should not exceed 30mph over the crossing.
