The direction sign on the up platform face in July 1969, almost four years after closure to passengers. Quite why the full stops were considered necessary is not known. Note the sack barrows on the platform; perhaps they had simply been abandoned or the station building was still used for some purpose or other - by permanent way engineers for example.
