The Welsh Highland Railway station at Caernarfon looking north on 28 September 2012. Originally there were two standard gauge tracks at this location. Although it had appeared to be a double-track railway it was not. There were two bi-directional single-track lines (to the right the Llanberis line and to the left the Afon Wen). The Welsh Highland Railway station opened on 12 October 1997.
