THE FACIT BRANCH: ROCHDALE TO BACUP

ROCH VIADUCT

Looking south-east from the embankment between the site of Wardleworth station and the beginning of the Roch Viaduct (demolished in 1972). The 18-arch viaduct which carried the Rochdale – Bacup railway (the Facit Branch) was directly ahead in this view of June 2016; it stretched as far as Roch Wood, seen in the distance. The embankment in the foreground has been developed as a play area; a minaret of Jamia Masjid Bilal is seen on the right.
