HAWARDEN LOOP LINE

[Source: Paul Wright]

Looking north along the Hawarden Loop line towards Shotton in March 2011. As can be seen from the picture the line drops very steeply down to the River Dee at this point. In the middle distance can be seen Shotton station which was originally called Connah's Quay & Shotton. Beyond it can be seen the Hawarden Bridge and beyond that is Hawarden Bridge station. The trees that can be seen beyond the Shotton station and to the left of it mark the route of the WM&CQR line to Connah's Quay. The line beyond these trees which continues over the bridge was the original MS&LR route between Shotton and Chester Northgate.
