The imposing mechanised coaling stage which dominated the skyline around the depot was a variation on the No1 type and had a capacity of 300 tons. Standing on the disposal roads are ex-LMS Black 5 Mixed Traffic class 4-6-0 45308 with BR Sulzer type 2 D7584, later class 25, 25 234 in the mid 1960's.
