SANDGATE HILL LIFT

[Source: Nick Catford & Brian Hart]

A car is seen approaching the lower station on Sandgate Hill; the Hythe & Sandgate Tramway terminus was a short walk down the hill.

A car has just left the upper station in this view from The Leys.

Two cars have just passed close to the bridge over Radnor Cliff Crescent which is near the midway point. Hear the gradient eases from 1 in 4¾ to 1 in 7.

A view from The Leys shortly after two cars have passed.

A similar tinted view but without the cars. Sandgate Castle is seen on the left.

The lower station is still easily recognisable in June 2014 despite two additional storeys
being added to the building.
