Goods Station Name: WIDNES (Hutchinson Street)

[Source: Les Fifoot & Paul Wright]

Taken from the east end of Hutchinson Street yard in 1967 an unidentified BR standard class 9 2-10-0 can be seen traveling in a westerly direction down the Widnes deviation line. This was one of ten locomotives of this class that were originally built to an experimental design with Franco Crosti boiler economisers. All were later rebuilt to operate as conventional locos due to corrosion problems.
