The waiting room on the up platform at Gateacre station in circa 1969. It dated from 1958 when the original canopies were removed and the station was modernised. Gas lighting remained though right up until closure. The waiting room would have seen little use at this time as the station had been a terminus sine 5 November 1960 and the trains used only the down platform.
