Station Name: GATESHEAD EAST


Looking north-west in May 1971 from the footbridge which links Gateshead East and West stations. The loco is leaving High Level Bridge and is about to enter Gateshead East, whose wooden platforms can be seen on the right. The tracks curving leftwards pass through Gateshead West station which closed to passengers in 1965.
