Station Name: GATESHEAD EAST


In April 1980 the entrance to the up platform at the head of the staircase at Gateshead East retains elaborately detailed iron barriers of North Eastern Railway vintage. The image shows a sliding gate, which would have allowed access to the platform from the stairs without passing through
the booking hall.
