A snowy Boxing Day 1962 sees A3 Pacific No. 60083 'Sir Hugo' arrive at a Hawick with train 1M88, the mid - morning class 1 express service to St Pancras. Built by the North British Loco Company, Glasgow in 1924 to a Gresley design, this loco was originally numbered 83, being renumbered by the LNER 2582 and then by BR to 60083. Withdrawn from 52A, Gateshead on 18.5.1964, it was cut up by Hughes Bolckows, North Blyth in August of the same year
